aviation
Steve has over 30 years experience in aviation. First as an RAF Navigator and Instructor; he has also held several Management posts in flight operations and safety. Most recently he spent over 4-years lobbying for better regulation on behalf of Europe’s regional aviation industry, which allowed him to participate in high-level regulatory and advisory bodies at the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency.
Steve developed and delivered the first JAA SMS training courses, and also developed EUROCONTROL’s Air-Ground Communication on-line training material. He has also helped airlines prepare for, and gain, EU OPS approval.
He delivered further SMS training courses for AVISA in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Belgrade and Sophia.
More recently Steve conducted a Study (in cooperation with airsight GmbH) for EASA into de-icing / anti-icing of aircraft on the ground within the Member States.
Steve is a volunteer counsellor for the NHS, and recently spent 5-weeks as a personal development leader on a Himalayan expedition for young explorers.
human potential
From his interest in aviation safety, in particular the "human factor", and also his interest in the philosophy of Buddha, Steve earned a Diploma in Life Coaching in 2006. Convinced that motivating employees to define and achieve personal goals which enhance company goals, is a winner for improved business, Steve focused his safety management training on changing workplace cultures.
psychotherapy
After running some "happiness" and personal growth workshops, and delivering motivational talks to schools on positive thinking, Steve has earned an Advanced Diploma Psychotherapeutic Counselling after completing a 3-year Royal College of Nursing accredited course. He is now running clinics from his home and from Equilibrium Natural Health Centre near Chippenham. He also volunteers a half-day clinic each week at his local NHS Medical Centre, and is looking to deliver NHS stress and anger awareness courses in the near future.
ethics
Steve is a member of appropriate professional bodies for psychotherapy, counselling and hypnotherapy, and continues to develop his professional knowledge and practical experience through a programme of continuing professional development. He abides by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) Ethical Framework, and he attends regular supervision monthly to obtain advice on professional, ethical and emotional matters.
